FAQs

Where are you based, and to where do you deliver?

We're based just south of the Sydney CBD, and we currently only serve the CBD, and specified suburbs in Sydney's East and Inner West. Please check our full suburb listing here.

Believe us, we wish we could serve the world, but at the moment we're only biting off what we can chew. If we don't currently deliver to your area, rest assured that we probably will soon.

Please leave your details below, and we'll be in touch when you're under our flight path.

By what time do I need to place my order?

Our current order cut-off is 6pm on the day before delivery. We do this because we need to be able to make sure we're minimising wastage and always bringing you the freshest ingredients.

How many people does one of your boxes feed?

All of our boxes are designed to feed 2. We like 2, because it's an easy multiple to work with. If you're cooking for 2, get 1 box. If you're cooking for 4, get two boxes. And so on. And so forth. No doubt you follow.

What if I'm cooking for an odd number of people?

Seconds or leftovers. Get hungry. Or get Tupperware.

How many boxes can I order?

As many as you like. Seriously. We think our boxes are perfect for those mid-week get-togethers where you can cook for 6 or 8. Even throw together a few different courses and look like a rock star.

We also like people that buy a number of boxes at the start of the week for a few different nights worth of food.

How long do the boxes keep for?

There is no single answer to this, and most boxes will typically contain meat, dairy, veggies, and less perishable pantry items. We always sell you super fresh produce. And, we always put the relevant use by dates on produce that we re-package. Also, we don't do anymore than we have to to the produce so that it can keep in its natural state for longer.

As a general rule, we wouldn't recommend ordering boxes more than 3 days ahead of your intended use date.

How much sous-cheffing does Mr Perkins & Co. do?

We would love to be able to say we sell you mise en place in a box, but if we pre-chop everything for you, the risk of it spoiling before you get to use it is greater. Also, we don't want to have all the fun.

What we do is give you precisely the right quantity of ingredients for you to use. That way cooking is less about the shopping, less about the measuring, and more about the cooking.

What's mise en place?

All the bits and bobs. All in little bowls. Pre-prepared, and ready to go. We get you four-fifths of the way there.

Can I request recipes?

You bet. And yes please. We love feedback. You can give it here.

Who is Mr Perkins?

Aha, we never thought you'd ask. More on that here.

What do I do with all the packaging you provide?

This is a big one.

We hate excess packaging. And we understand your concern with all the packaging associated with a Mr Perkins & Co. Box.

Rest assured that we use only fully recycled, fully recyclable, or reusable materials in packaging up our boxes.

Know also, that we insist on our supplies use the bare minimum of packaging in getting their goods to us.

On balance, we think that our boxes demand less packaging than an average meal, because we buy in big, and send off in precisely the right amount. There is no excess packaging containing superfluous volumes of ingredients.

And, we cut out product wastage as well.

Why do you use plastic instead of glass?

We use fully recyclable plastic, instead of glass, where we can, because typically less energy is expended in its manufacture, transport, and recycling than its heavier cousin.

Can I return the packaging to you for reuse?

We would love to be to say yes to this, but Food Standards dictate that we can't. We simply urge you to recycle everything you get in accordance with your council bigwigs' directives.

Do I need to be at home to receive my goods?

No. But if you're not, you'll have needed to specify a secure space for us to leave it away from sunshine, reprobates, cats, etc. Sadly, we can no longer be responsible for the fate of your Box once we've left it where you've told us.

If you live in a secure building, let us know. We'll try to find a time that suits to deliver. Or maybe we can drop it off where you work.

When do you deliver?

In the afternoon. Our fleet flood out of the depot circa 4pm and have the last of the bags delivered by 7pm.

What if I'm worried about the quality of the ingredients I receive?

Don't eat them.

We can always guarantee that they were in good nick when they were packed. And the cool bags they're delivered in, with the ice pack, will keep them cold for at least four hours. If you get home later than you expected, and you're worried that something may have spoiled during the delay, then don't eat it. It's not worth the risk.

Get in touch with us and we'll try and work something out.

Anything else I need to know?

Have fun while you cook. And be happy when you eat. Try, if you can, to share it with friends. It's always better that way.

All you possibly need for an effortless cooking experience. The finest ingredients are precisely portioned, beautifully packaged, and delivered direct to your doorstep.
